March and the Mason Bees
Yay, March arrived and it feels like spring is right around the corner now here in the South Okanagan. It's wonderful to be back into my gardens with my grandson and we found the first crocus of the year. I'm monitoring my Mason bee house installed on the south east side of our home. Just in case they hatch too early and the blossoms haven't bloomed yet, I placed some flat dishes filled with rocks and sugar water out for the bees. A Mason bee is a gentle, beneficial insect that has great potential as a pollinator of fruit trees and a large variety of food crops - we need them around. What do you do for the various pollinators such as the butterflies, bees and hummingbirds?
